Aéropostale launches web3 initiative with virtual interaction

North American clothing retailer Aéropostale has teamed up with MetaversePlus, a platform that creates metaverse environments for companies, to launch a collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) called AeroPax. The collection is made up of 30.000 works of art featuring colorful animal features created in the Aéropostale style. Each NFT will cost $69 and will give holders access to the brand's exclusive physical and digital events, as well as a 25% discount at its online and physical stores in the US.

Aéropostale will also draw ten cars da Tesla among the brand's fans in celebration of the launch of the collection AeroPax. Tokens can be purchased with fiat currencies (which do not physically exist) through regular credit or debit cards. After the collection launches, NFT holders will have the opportunity to upgrade their tokens to virtual avatars and access AeroWorld, a fashion metaverse created by the brand.

Aéropostale's initiative follows the trend of other fast fashion brands in exploring the possibilities of web3. In December 2022, the Forever 21 launched a collection of physical clothing based on designs created for metaverse avatars, while GAP partnered with Dress X to bring hoodies into the virtual space. Bershka, in turn, created an augmented reality clothing collection for Christmas.
