Wimbledon champion, Alcaraz consolidates himself as number 1 in the world

Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, who on Sunday became Wimbledon champion for the first time in his career, after defeating Serbian Novak Djokovic in the final, consolidated himself as number 1 in the ATP rankings, published this Monday (17).

The 20-year-old tennis player now has an 880 point advantage over Djokovic, second on the list, but in September he will have to defend the 2.000 points he gained last season when he became champion of the US Open, a tournament that did not feature the participation of Serbian for not being vaccinated against Covid-19.

Number 3 in the world continues to be the Russian Daniil Medvedev, a considerable distance from the first two, in a Top 10 that has remained unchanged.

German Alexander Zverev rose two positions and is back in the Top 20, in 19th place.

In turn, American Tommy Paul overtook Croatian Borna Coric (15th) to come in 14th and reach his best career ranking.
