Liz Truss is the new British Prime Minister

Liz Truss, until now Minister of Foreign Affairs, was elected by the British Conservatives as the country's new Prime Minister and will succeed Boris Johnson, the party announced this Monday.

Truss, 47, won by 81.326 votes to 60.399 for former finance minister Rishi Sunak, 42, a billionaire former banking executive and grandson of Indian immigrants.

She will officially assume the role of head of Government on Tuesday (6), after a meeting with Queen Elizabeth II.
