Apple registers “xrOS” brand indicating possible operating system for virtual reality headset

A Apple, one of the largest technology companies in the world, recently registered a trademark called "xrOS" in New Zealand.

In theory, this means that the company is planning to use this name for a new operating system that will be used in an augmented and virtual reality headset that they are developing.

Not much is known about this headset yet, but rumors suggest it will be called the Reality Pro and could cost up to $3.000. xrOS is an appropriate name for the headset's operating system, as it is supposed to combine augmented and virtual reality to create an immersive experience.

The trademark registration also reveals that the Apple intends to use its San Francisco signature to market xrOS, just as they have done with other famous operating systems such as macOS and iOS.

xrOS announcement should take place in June

Although the Apple hasn't officially announced the headset or xrOS yet, they are expected to reveal more information during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which will take place next June.

Still regarding the headset, potential users are dealing with a lot of speculation. Behind the scenes in the industry, the device is expected to have more than 10 cameras and run the xrOS operating system, with application adaptations such as Messages, FaceTime and Maps.
