US Department of Homeland Security wants to use artificial intelligence to defend against attacks

The United States Department of Homeland Security has created a task force made up of artificial intelligence (AI) experts to research how this technology can be used to protect critical infrastructure against threats, including cyberattacks and physical attacks.

The task force will examine how AI can be used to improve cargo screening and identify potential security risks, such as illegal products. US Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said AI could play a transformative role in protecting national security, but stressed the importance of balancing technology implementation with innovation.
