Meta has not given up on the metaverse; executive talks again about “long term”

Meta reaffirmed its commitment to the metaverse concept in a virtual meeting with North American journalists. The meeting, on the 29th, was led by Nick Glegg, the company's head of global affairs, and held in the company's own space in the metaverse, with participants using borrowed Meta Quest headsets.

During the presentation, Glegg highlighted that the company isprometaken with the development of the metaverse, despite recent speculation about possible job cuts related to this area. He highlighted that the company believes in the potential of the metaverse as the heart of new computing platforms, but that this will take time to consolidate.

Despite some bugs presented during the meeting, such as all the avatars present moving their mouths when only one person spoke, Glegg stated that Meta is investing billions in the technology and hopes to recoup these resources through advertising and commerce businesses in the metaverse.
