No TikTok in Denmark's parliament

The Danish Parliament asked its deputies and all employees to uninstall the TikTok application from mobile devices provided by the House, due to "the risk of espionage". It is not new that the Chinese social network has been accused of using the application to spy on Western nations.

Recommendations to uninstall TikTok came from the Danish Center for Cybersecurity, which recommended authorities remove the app from their cell phones.

Last week, the European Commission and the European Council, two of the main institutions of the European Union (EU), vetoed the use of this platform to “protect” the institutions.

The famous video network, owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, is increasingly being surrounded by Western countries: nations fear that the Chinese government could have access to user data from around the world.

The United States considers the app a threat to national security and, in 2022, banned its use on federal government devices.

Canada has also banned its use on the mobile devices it provides to government employees because “TikTok’s data collection methods give significant access to the phone’s content.”
