TikTok tests tool that creates avatars with artificial intelligence

TikTok is testing a new tool that allows users to create avatars generated by artificial intelligence (AI). The company confirmed the existence of the tool to the TechCrunch portal. Although the tool is not available, it is being tested in selected markets. The information was released this Wednesday (26).

Do you remember that Lensa app, which took photos and turned them into avatars. Well, this TikTok testing tool would be in that vein.

The new tool will allow people to create personalized avatars by selecting up to ten photos. After uploading the images, the user will be offered five different styles to choose from.

Users will only be able to use the tool once a day, which will generate up to 30 avatars. After creating their avatars, TikTokers will be able to choose to download or share them within the application itself. People will be able to use their avatar in their profile photo.

Check out the video how it would work:

Obviously, photos that violate the social network's security guidelines cannot be used.

Still at the TechCrunch, TikTok said it experiments with new features frequently, but not all of them end up in the final product. Although the tool is still in the testing phase, the success of other generative AI avatar tools makes it likely that it will be incorporated into the platform. The company's goal is to create a wave similar to what happened with Lensa a few months ago.
