Vegan market grows in Brazil

The vegan and vegetarian market in Brazil continues to grow, according to the Brazilian Vegetarian Society (SVB). 2021 data from Intelligence in Research and Consulting (Ipec) showed that 46% of Brazilians already stop eating meat of their own accord at least once a week. Another study on the topic, carried out by Ibope Intelligence in 2018, reveals that 14% of Brazilians declare themselves vegetarians. This number represents an increase of 75% compared to the same survey carried out in 2012. 🐄

Without a doubt, the growth in the number of Brazilians who want avoid meat and animal products have caused socioeconomic impacts with the emergence of specialized markets for this public. Establishments were created that sell products ranging from food to clothing, including cosmetics, hygiene products, pharmaceuticals and various items produced without any ingredients of animal origin.

According to research by SkyQuest, the sector is expected to exceed US$34 billion by 2028 due to the increase in the vegan population and, consequently, demand. In South America alone, the growth estimate should be even higher, with 11,45% expected by 2028.
