Sales of cannabis derivatives in pharmacies more than triple in Brazil in 1 year

The purchase of cannabis-derived products, including the popular cannabidiol oil, sold directly in Brazilian pharmacies more than tripled in one year – jumping from 50.366 units sold in 2021 to 170.263 last year. The survey was carried out by Sindusfarma (Pharmaceutical Products Industry Union). The products faced misinformation and prejudice before they began to be sold in pharmacies.

Measure returns responsibility to doctors for prescribing cannabis-based medicines

The Federal Council of Medicine (CFM) opened a public consultation and interrupted the effects of the resolution that restricted the use of cannabidiol-based medicines. With the decision, which came into effect on Tuesday (25), the responsibility for recommending use falls back to the doctor. The public consultation to receive contributions on the topic runs until December 23rd.

In 2013, Uruguay made history by becoming the first country in the world to legalize and regulate the production and consumption of cannabis. Germany paves the way to legalize marijuana for recreational use

The German government established, this Wednesday (26), a milestone to legalize cannabis for recreational use for adults, subject to the approval of European legislation – informed the Minister of Health, Karl Lauterbach. The main lines of the project aim to place the production and trade of cannabis under “public control” and allow the purchase and possession of “a maximum quantity of 20 to 30 grams” for personal consumption, the minister said at a press conference. Use by minors under 18 remains strictly prohibited.
