212 candidates received fines from Ibama in these elections

More than 200 candidates running in this year's elections have already been fined by Ibama for environmental irregularities. A recent survey carried out by G1 shows that, together, the 212 fines amount to R$78 million reais. In another previous survey carried out by Agência Pública, the number of candidates fined was even higher: 251

According with the G1 portal, a large part of the environmental crimes committed by candidates in this year's general and proportional elections were against flora, followed by the lack of environmental control and illegal fishing. 392 fines were imposed.

To arrive at the number, the report crossed Ibama information from the last 30 years with the basis of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).

The G1 list points to candidates for the positions of federal and state deputy, senator and governor.
