4 days late, PGR pronounces on attacks on the Supreme Court minister

The National Council of the Public Ministry (CNMP) approved this Tuesday (25) a demonstration of solidarity with minister Cármen Lúcia, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), the target of attacks by Bolsonarist Roberto Jefferson. The former deputy is being investigated for 4 attempted murders of federal police officers during the operation to arrest him last Sunday. At the Council meeting, the Attorney General, Augusto Aras, defended the Constitution as the "only path to peace".

The motion of solidarity with STF Minister Cármen Lúcia was proposed by the Attorney General of the Republic, Augusto Aras, head of the Federal Public Ministry, and arrives after the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro (PL) had repudiated the attitude of ally Roberto Jefferson in attacks on the PF, last Sunday (23).

Jefferson, a staunch defender of Bolsonarism, posted unprintable insults to minister Cármem Lúcia on Friday (21), one of the reasons for the arrest request issued by STF minister, Alexandre de Moraes. Because he is a convict and is under house arrest, the former deputy is prohibited from speaking out on social media.

“In the same way that we defend our functional independence, we also always defend, and will defend, the formation of the judge's free conviction with its respective justifications”, stated Aras in the late defense of the minister attacked by Jefferson. Globonews released an excerpt from the recording of the meeting.

Aras had already been accused on social media for his lack of stance in relation to the offenses directed against Minister Cármem Lúcia and also regarding the two police officers injured in an attack by Roberto Jefferson, last Sunday. And now, the PGR is being condemned online for taking so long to speak out:

According to a publication on the CNMP website, Augusto Aras emphasized that “the Constitution that we here enshrine respect for is the only path to peace and the great national pact that we signed in 1988. We have no other path to peace if we do not recognize the authority of our Constitution. Our Constitution indicates the path to peace and the means that we must always observe.”
