Free election hours resume this Friday, October 7th

The free election schedule on radio and TV will resume this Friday (7). In the second round, propaganda time is divided equally between the candidates for the presidency of the Republic and between the candidates for state government competing in the second stage of the election.

The plenary session of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) unanimously approved, this Thursday (6), the media plan for free electoral advertising on TV and radio in the second round of elections. Advertising and audiovisual pieces will resume on Friday (7).

Candidates Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and Jair Bolsonaro (PL), who are running for President of the Republic, will have 5 minutes each in two daily blocks of electoral propaganda.

On TV, advertisements will run from Monday to Saturday, from From 13 to 13 and 20:30 pm - 20:40 pm. On the radio, the advertisement for president airs from From 7 to 7 quality From 12 to 12.

According to article 62 of the electoral legislation, the candidate who obtained the highest number of votes in the first round will be the first to present themselves, following the alternation of order with each program or insertion.

The first to introduce himself will be the former president Squid, for having obtained highest number of votes in the first round. From then on, there is an alternation with the president Jair Bolsonaro, which tries to re-election and stayed in second place.

Elections in the states

As provided for in the Resolution TSE nº 23.610/2019, propaganda for the state government will be broadcast from 7:10 pm - 7:20 pm and 12:10 pm - 12:20 pm on the radio. On television, election hours will be at 13:10 pm - 13:20 pm  and 20:40 pm - 20:50 pm.

Blocks are also 10 minutes long. In addition to the mandatory period of free electoral propaganda, candidates have 25 minutes of insertions per position, Monday to Sunday, to convey parts of 30 seconds to 60 seconds throughout radio and TV programming.

Advertising on the internet

Since 17pm on Monday (3), candidates for the state government and the Presidency of the Republic competing in the second round of the 2022 Elections have already been allowed to broadcast electoral propaganda on the internet and in print media, promote campaign acts such as rallies and motorcades.

The second round of elections takes place on October 30.
