Voters who did not vote can justify their absence until December 1st

Voters who did not vote in the first round of these elections must justify their absence digitally or in person at electoral offices by December 1st or pay the fine due at any time. It is important to remember that, if you did not go to the polls in the first round, you can vote normally in the second round, as long as your registration is valid.

To justify it, the voter must present documents that prove the alleged reason for the absence. It will be submitted to the analysis of the judge or electoral judge, who may grant or deny the request. Therefore, anyone who cannot prove the reason for absence must pay the fine.

How to write justification?

O justification request can be sent via e-Title or Justify System. It is also possible to submit the application to the electoral registry, in person or through a representative appointed by power of attorney.

Absence in the 1st shift: age groups with lower and higher abstentions

In the state of São Paulo, 21,6% of the São Paulo electorate did not go to the polls.

The lowest abstentions were recorded in the age groups of 55 to 59 (12,03%), 60 to 64 years (12,2%) and among young people 18 years old (13,6%).

The greatest abstention among voters with mandatory voting occurred in the range between 21 and 24 anos (23,71%).

Between seniors aged 70 to 74 and teenagers aged 16 and 17, for whom voting is not mandatory, 41,3% and 22,6%, respectively, did not attend.
