'Hogwarts Legacy' is a success! Game exceeds 267 million hours played

The magic of Harry Potter lives on! The saga of the most famous wizard in the world received an electronic game on February 10th. It was so successful that the game has already surpassed 267 million hours played by users. 🎮

The action RPG, produced by Warner Bros. Games and Avalanche Software, has won over Potterheads since its launch at the beginning of the month. Sales numbers are yet to come, but you can already tell that fans are engaged.

The game's arrival stimulated increased traffic in the gaming community. Harry Potter on the fan platform Fandom in over seven years. The second period with the highest traffic was the release of the second “Fantastic Beasts” film in 2018.

According to updated statistics provided to Variety on Tuesday (21) by Warner Bros. games, Hogwarts legacy has already had 267 million hours played, 393 million magical plants cultivated, 242 million potions prepared and 1,25 billion Dark Wizards defeated.

At the same time, the game's arrival sparked a heated debate in the game's fandom. Harry Potter – since the author JK Rowling continues to publicly express views that many consider offensive to trans people. Although Rowling did not participate creatively in the game, she benefits financially from its sales.

About 70% of fans “will play a game simply because they are a fan of that franchise,” says Fandom CEO Perkins Miller, adding that it's no surprise that The Last of Us, Star Wars, Marvel e Harry Potterr are having “tremendous success with cross-media franchises.”
