USA promemust maintain climate agenda whatever the outcome of the elections

The American government's special representative for climate, John Kerry, stated this Tuesday (8), at COP27, that President Joe Biden intends to maintain the country's climate agenda even if the Republicans win the elections taking place today.

Republicans are the favorites to gain control of Congress in these elections, which are considered an assessment of the Biden administration.

Former Republican President Donald Trump withdrew the United States from the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change. In turn, Biden brought the country into the pact when he was elected.

“Even if we don't win, President Biden is more determined than ever to continue what we're doing,” Kerry said.

“Most of what we are doing cannot be changed by anyone who comes after… The market has made its decision about what we have to do to respond to the climate crisis,” he added.
