Chocolate factory in the Amazon?

The installation of demountable factories in four communities in the Amazon starting in March will allow cocoa and cupuaçu produced in the region to be processed right there, by local people, and transformed into chocolate. The biofactories project, as they are called, is an initiative of the Instituto Amazônia 4.0 and received an investment of R$3 million from the IDB Lab, which is the innovation laboratory of the Inter-American Development Bank, in addition to the collaboration of companies, volunteers and specialists in chocolate. 🍫

The idea is to install hundreds or even thousands of portable and collapsible chocolate factories, distributed throughout the Amazon rainforest and operated by local people, including indigenous people.

The project wants to enhance the gains of local communities from natural cocoa and cupuaçu plantations in the region. Amazon.

Currently, the raw material is sold at R$10,00 per kilo, while fine chocolate is sold at R$200,00 per kilo. 🍫
