🍃 Report highlights mistreatment and irregularities in the import of giraffes from BioParque Rio

The news portal ((o))eco had access to the expert report from the Federal Police (PF) that assessed the conditions in which the 15 giraffes imported by BioParque Rio lived, at the Hotel Portobello Resort and Safári, in Mangaratiba (RJ), where the animals are being kept.

According to the expert – who monitored the situation of the animals until mid-May – the practices instituted in the creation of giraffes, as well as the facilities at the site, had been imposing “a series of acts that lead to mistreatment, cruelty and abuse” against the animals.

“The specimens were continually locked in the exchange area, in absolutely unsanitary conditions”, assessed the expert.
