Caixa director is found dead at the bank's headquarters in Brasília

On Tuesday night (19), the body of the bank's director of Internal Controls and Integrity was found at the headquarters of Caixa Econômica Federal. The case is under investigation and, according to the 5th DP (Police Station), responsible for the process, the incident is initially classified as suicide.

Sérgio Ricardo Faustino Batista, director of Internal Controls and Integrity at Caixa, was found dead in the state bank's headquarters building, located in Brasília, this Tuesday (22) at around 22pm. The information was released by Caixa, which also said it was contributing to the investigation of the case. The body was found by a security guard and a warehouse assistant.

Sérgio was 54 years old and worked as the director responsible for the division that received and followed up on internal complaints from bank employees, such as the accusations of sexual harassment that led to the downfall of the former president of the house, Pedro Guimarães. The director found dead had spent his career at the bank, where he started working in 1989. According to the 5th DP (Police Station), which is investigating the case, the incident was initially classified as suicide.

Caixa scandal

After the change in the bank's presidency and the repercussion of victims' reports, Caixa revealed that another complaint of harassment had already been made to Caixa's Internal Controls and Integrity Department. Sérgio had already directly advised Guimarães' office, but had remained in the position after the former's departure.
