Brazil is the country with the most victims of monkeypox

On Tuesday (25) the Ministry of Health confirmed the eighth death from monkey smallpox in Brazil. The case was registered in Minas Gerais and the victim was a 33-year-old man, who lived in Divinópolis and had comorbidity. He died on Saturday (22) in Belo Horizonte.

According to the Ministry of Health, Brazil is the country with the highest number of victims of the disease worldwide.

To date, three deaths have been recorded in Minas, but the suspicion of a fourth death is being investigated by the Minas Gerais Department of Health (SES-MG). Two people died in São Paulo and three in Rio de Janeiro.
