Datafolha: Lula fluctuates downwards with 45%; Bolsonaro stable with 32%

Datafolha research released this Thursday (1st) shows former president Lula (PT) with 45% of voting intentions in the first round of the presidential election, followed by the current president, Jair Bolsonaro (PL), with 32%. Lula fluctuated downwards and Bolsonaro remained stable. Ciro Gomes from PDT (9%) and Simone Tebet from MDB (5%) fluctuated upwards.

This is the first Datafolha after the start of free electoral hours and after the debate between candidates on Band TV (Folha de S.Paulo, TV Cultura and UOL).

The research was commissioned by TV Globo and Folha de S. Paulo newspaper.

In the survey, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) remains in the lead in voting intentions, but the difference between him and second place, President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), has become smaller. In relation to the previous survey (August 18), Lula fluctuated two points down (from 47% to 45%) and Bolsonaro remained stable (32%).

 Ciro Gomes (PDT) increased two points (7 to 9%) and Simone Tebet increased three percentage points (2 to 5%). The MDB candidate was the only presidential candidate to fluctuate beyond the margin of error of two percentage points plus or minus.

Datafolha interviewed 5.734 people in 285 municipalities between August 30th and September 1st. The survey was registered with the TSE under number BR-00433/2022
