Ana Moser's statement about eSports divides opinions on social media

A statement by Ana Moser, Minister of Sports in the Lula government, has divided opinions on social media. Last Tuesday (10), an excerpt from the interview she gave to UOL went viral. The former volleyball player says that eSports, or sporting competitions in which electronic games are used, cannot be considered a sport.

“In my opinion, electronic sports is an entertainment industry, it is not sport. So you have fun playing video games, you had fun. The eSports athlete trains, but Ivete Sangalo also trains to put on a show and he is not an athlete, she is an artist who works in entertainment. The electronic game is not unpredictable, it is designed by digital, cybernetic programming. It’s a schedule, it’s closed, different from sport,” she said.
