“In my opinion, electronic sports is an entertainment industry, it is not sport. So you have fun playing video games, you had fun. The eSports athlete trains, but Ivete Sangalo also trains to put on a show and he is not an athlete, she is an artist who works in entertainment. The electronic game is not unpredictable, it is designed by digital, cybernetic programming. It’s a schedule, it’s closed, different from sport,” she said.

The statement had a huge impact on the internet. On the one hand, there was criticism for the supposed undermining of electronic games in the minister's speech. On the other hand, users highlighted the points that would justify eSports not falling within the Ministry of Sports. Check out some reactions:

They can be left out of the Min do Esporte for mere delimitation, but it would be important for the government to include it in public policy, instead of falling into the irrelevance of saying what sport is.

I consider eSports something of extreme importance that goes far beyond entertainment. Therefore, it must be in science and technology, not under a sports federation – which understands nothing about games and digital technology.

Extremely unhappy speech from the new Minister of Sports about electronic sports.
Not only did he say that he does not intend to invest and support, but he also spoke out against attempts to include him in the portfolio.
