Democrats surprise and maintain seats in the US Senate; dispute in Georgia will be decided in December

With the exception of the dispute in Pennsylvania, Democratic and Republican senators who were seeking re-election achieved the feat, but it is still not possible to know which party - Republican or Democrat - will control the house. In Georgia, where the elections were very close, there will be a second round on December 6th. Democrats contradicted predictions that pointed to Republicans as the big winners. The so-called Republican “red wave” – which would win crucial states for the next election in 2024 – did not form.

The dispute for the United States Senate in Georgia, which could determine which party controls this House, will have a second round in December – press projections show this Wednesday (9). Democratic incumbent Raphael Warnock and Republican opponent Herschel Walker, a former American football star supported by Donald Trump, will compete for the seat on December 6, according to forecasts made by broadcasters CNN and NBC. Neither candidate received the simple majority of votes required by law to win.

In Nevada, Republican Adam Laxalt leads with 49,9% of the vote against 47,2% for Democrat and incumbent Catherine Cortez Masto. The dispute for seats in the US Senate foresees a second round if no candidate achieves a simple victory (50% plus 1).

Among other states with disputes still undecided, Republicans beat Democrats with more than 50% of the votes. At the Arizona, Democrat Mark Kelly opened more than six points of advantage over Blake Masters (Republican), close to securing his re-election. Republicans will hold the Senate seat for Alaska, as two party candidates lead the dispute.

Our States with a dispute already defined, there was a turnaround only in Pennsylvania, where Democrat John Fetterman won over Republican Mehmet Oz.
