There are 18 days and 11 hours left until the 1st round of the 2022 general elections! We summarize the issues and discussions raised by the 4 most cited candidates in voting intentions for the Presidency of the Republic.

Jair Bolsonaro (PL)

  1. The candidate seeking re-election released a video with an excerpt from his interview with a group of evangelical podcasts in the early hours of this Tuesday. Bolsonaro declares that he will “pass the banner” of the presidency of the Republic if he loses the next elections. See the video below.

If this is God's will, I will continue [in the Presidency]. If it's not, we'll cross the line and I'll retire because, at my age, I have nothing left to do here on Earth if my time in politics ends on December 31st of this year.

JAIR BOLSONARO (PL)

2. Economy: Then, Bolsonaro shared a video at a gas station, showing the ethanol price and states that 'the PT was against the reduction in fuel [prices]'. “Inflation, down. Unemployment, down.”, said Bolsonaro while campaigning for Sorocaba, this Tuesday (13). In the evening, he also announced the decrease in average price of cooking gas, announced by Petrobras last Monday (12).

3. motorcycle: Bolsonaro also posted a series of records from motorbike and the rally which he carried out in Sorocaba, interior of São Paulo. He stated that will not “leave” the country. “Those who have to leave Brazil are those who do not want the freedom of their people, those who do not accept the free market (…) and want to put us in the situation that other countries in South America find themselves in”, he added.

Luis Inacio Lula da Silva (PT)

  1. Good day: The candidate began the day by stating that “hate doesn’t fit in the ballot box”. “We need to vote with love and hope. A good day to us and let’s move on!”, he exclaimed.
  2. Corrida: He then appealed to voters to help him win the election without the need for two rounds. “I never made an election to win in the 2nd round“, he commented.
  3. Message: At another point, he addressed the percentage of voters “who don’t show up to vote”, calling the issue and the lack of reach to this group a “serious problem”.
  4. Rai: Lula also thanked the support of Brazilian athlete, businessman and social entrepreneur Raí Oliveira, who declared his vote for the PT member last Monday (12).

Ciro Gomes (PDT)

  1. Mourning: Ciro shared on Twitter a photo of filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard, who died in Switzerland this Tuesday (13). In a message that pays homage to the cinema icon, he wished him to “rest in peace”.
  2. Dance: the campaign bet on relaxation and transformed the candidate and his vice-president, Alessandra Paula Matos, into dancing avatars. Did the electorate like it?
  3. Bahia: Ciro and Ana Paula were in Salvador, Bahia, and visited the city's Parent-Teacher Association.

Simone Tebet (MDB)

  1. Racism: Simone stated that current president Jair Bolsonaro “specialized in setting the worst examples”, referring to to Bolsonaro's racist statement given to a group of podcasts in the early hours of Tuesday (13). “Are you of African descent?” Bolsonaro asked black presenter Fernando Vilela, who responded positively.
