Get ready for the elections! 18 special projects to read, see and listen to

Candidates, parties, coalitions, acronyms, government plans, research, campaigns, statistics. There are many factors involved in the electoral process. So that the population has access to public information and can understand what it means in the process of choosing a candidate, there are people working on formats and systems to facilitate voter understanding. We have listed some projects to read, watch or listen to until the day of the 'festival of democracy' arrives.

The data journalist Gabriela Ceasar, from São Paulo, created the 'Elections in Brazil' panel, which shows how each Brazilian state voted in the presidential elections since 2002. The data used is from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) itself. Gabriela explained to Curto that this tool helps the user to assimilate interesting aspects about the dispute in Brazil. “Territorially, for example, Amazonas is very big, but there aren’t many voters there. In São Paulo it is different, it is not very big but it has more than 22% of voters [in Brazil]”.

Listen to an excerpt from our interview with Gabriela about the purpose of the new tool and how to use it:

The first round of the 2022 elections takes place in less than a month. To facilitate the understanding of key points about this stage of democracy, several guides are available on the internet. They answer the main questions about the upcoming elections and contribute to current political debates. O Curto News has curated it so you can stay up to date with everything!
