Henrique Meirelles negotiates with Lula to take over Ministry of Finance

Henrique Meirelles, former Minister of Finance in the Michel Temer (MDB) government and former president of the Central Bank in the Lula government, would have already been invited to the Ministry of Finance by the elected president, but would be negotiating the nominations, for him, of the presidents of Banco do Brasil and Caixa, previously prometaken to PT.

The information was released by the Antagonista website on its Twitter account. Meirelles' name is already taken for granted by the market, which welcomes his appointment.

Meirelles, who also recently joined the global advisory board of cryptocurrency exchange Binance, said in a recent report to Sheet that he “wouldn’t have any major problems” leaving these activities in the private sector to join Lula’s government.

“At the moment, if I am invited and accepted, I will obviously end my work in the private sector, whether at ACCrédito, Binance or other projects that I am involved in, in the same way as I did in 2016, when I took over the Ministry of Finance, or in 2003, when I took over the Central Bank”, Meirelles told the reporter.
