Latino has to delete video in which Lula's speeches are altered, says Electoral Court

The electoral court ordered the Latino singer to remove from the air an edit made to a video by presidential candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). Cuts were made that “completely change the meaning” of the PT member’s speech. Shared posts must also be deleted.

The minister of the Superior Electoral Court (TRE) Paulo de Tarso Sanseverino determined this Saturday (3) that other profiles that shared the doctored video – released by the Latino singer – immediately delete the posts. (UOL)

The TSE minister welcomed the request made by the Brazilian Federation of Hope (PT, PCdoB and PV), which states that the video – recorded at an MTST (Homeless Workers Movement) event in 2017 – was manipulated “in order to convey the idea that candidate Lula had said that the supporters and affiliates present at the event were bums, criminals and drug dealerss". The speech given by Lula at the event had the opposite meaning, argued the parties that support Lula's candidacy. At the time, the former president said: “The first thing they have to know is that here there is not bum, here There are no dealers, here There are no criminals And much less bandit. Here there are men and women, mothers and fathers who are certainly either still working or have worked and been sent away and they don't want any trouble.”

Latino accepted the decision, but did not stop protesting veiledly on his Twitter citing “freedom of expression”:
