“The last one to sleep wins”, said the slogan that went viral on TikTok and became popular among younger people, but is now off the internet, according to the Chinese social network.

In this newest 'challenge', cases were registered in schools, five of them on Thursday in Mexico City, and the others in the state of Nuevo León (north). Despite the medication being controlled, the students were able to access it. No one reported serious complications.

Clonazepam, also known by the trade name Rivotril, is prescribed to control seizures, panic attacks and anxiety and, at the same time, also tends to induce sleep.
The Mexico City Public Security Secretariat noted in a statement that the minors were treated at the school by paramedics, who confirmed the poisoning “due to the consumption of controlled medication”.
Dangerous trend has been circulating since 2018
“Unfortunately, the challenges that circulate on the networks often put people’s health at risk,” said Alma Rosa Marroquín, Health Secretary of the Mexican city.

Some users also published videos on TikTok warning about the dangers of this challenge, which had already caused poisonings in 2022 in other Mexican states, such as Veracruz (east) and Coahuila (north).
The first record of the challenge dates back to 2018, in Chile, when there were dozens of cases of teenagers who consumed the drug. Afterwards, the practice became popular in 2020.
On TikTok there are several videos of people recording themselves while taking medicine to observe its effects.
