The announcement was made two days before the debut of the Portuguese team in World cup of Qatar – but it is not surprising. Cristiano Ronaldo has been on a collision course with the club's management since the last pre-season, in the middle of the year. Between moments of indiscipline and a long period on the bench, the athlete's time in the Manchester United seemed close to the end.
The turning point in the relationship, however, occurred a few days ago, when Ronaldo gave a long and controversial interview to English journalist Piers Morgan. In it, the Portuguese striker harshly criticized the club's board and owners and even said that he did not respect Ten Hag. He also stated that the club did not offer the necessary support when his newborn son passed away at the beginning of the year.
Without a club, the star enters the field for Portugal on Thursday (24), at 13 pm, against the Ghana team.
