Who is Márcio França?

Lawyer and born in São Vicente (SP), marcio france He graduated in Law from the Catholic University of Santos.

He was a Justice officer before entering politics as a councilor and twice mayor of São Vicente (1997-2004).

In 1998 he joined the PSB, the only party he has been affiliated with to date. Márcio França was a councilor and mayor of São Vicente.

He was a federal deputy and secretary of Sports, Leisure and Tourism for the State of São Paulo.

Government of São Paulo

In 2014, França ascended to the Government Palace in São Paulo as vice-governor elected on the ticket headed by Geraldo Alckmin (PSDB). When Alckmin resigned from his position to run for President of the Republic, França became governor.

He ran for re-election in 2018, but lost in the second round to tucano João Doria. Thus he earned an unfavorable nickname: the first governor of the State of São Paulo to be defeated in a re-election attempt.

In the 2022 elections, Márcio França ran for a seat in the Federal Senate for São Paulo, in the coalition supported by the PT, but lost the seat to former minister Marcos Pontes (PL), a supporter of Jair Boplsonaro.
