“If the club wanted to renew his contract, this would have happened sooner,” said a source at the Paris club. According to this source, the Argentine will fulfill the contract as expected and the club should not comment on the matter officially.

Several media outlets have reported in recent days an astronomical offer from Al-Hilal (Al-Nassr's great rival), which would reach 400 million euros (440 million dollars, 2,18 billion reais) per year, to convince Messi to resume the famous rivalry with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Messi, who will turn 36 in June, “is a player in the final stretch of his career and will not be there just for football. He will be there to contribute to the kingdom's attractiveness,” said the Saudi source, highlighting the country's ambition to attract other “big players” and “promising young people”.
