According to the São Paulo Municipal Health Department, the deceased patient lived in the North Zone of the capital, had several comorbidities, and was undergoing treatment with antivirals for emergency use in serious cases.

The state of São Paulo records 3.861 confirmed cases of Monkeypox. According to the agency, a reduction in new cases has been observed in recent weeks.
The Monkeypox virus, which is part of the same family as smallpox, is transmitted between people, and the current outbreak has a prevalence of intimate and sexual contact transmission.
The main symptom of the disease isappearance of pimple-like lesions or blisters, which may arise in the face, inside the mouth or other parts of the body such as hands, chest, feet and genitals. Other associated symptoms are fever; lump in the neck, armpit and groin; headache; chills; and tiredness.

To prevent the disease, the department warns that it is necessary to avoid intimate or sexual contact with people who have skin lesions; avoid kissing, hugging or having sex with someone who has the disease; wash your hands frequently with soap and water or alcohol gel; do not share bed linen, towels, cutlery, glasses and personal objects; and wear a mask.
