Moraes: shooting at police officers in SP was “banditry” and has “no relation to the electoral dispute”

This Sunday (2), two police officers were shot in front of the Deputado Aurélio Campos State School, in Cidade Dutra, a neighborhood in the south of São Paulo. The location is an electoral college, but according to Alexandre de Moraes, president of the Superior Electoral Court, the crime was not related to the elections.

Suspect is on the run

The shooter, according to the Military Police, has not yet been identified. After shooting at the police, the perpetrator managed to escape, leaving two police officers injured. The case was registered in the 48th Police District – Cidade Dutra, in São Paulo.

The Regional Electoral Court (TRE) reported, in a statement, that “the shooting took place in front of the school and voting was stopped for around 40 minutes. The episode is not related to the electoral process and further information should be checked with the Public Security Secretariat”.

“In São Paulo, the most serious occurrence, in an electoral zone, had nothing to do with an electoral dispute. A person came down, stealthily, and shot two police officers. We are following it, but it has no relation to the electoral dispute. It is an act of pure banditry.”
