“Our Voice” talks about violence against women in politics

ONU News launched the podcast “Our Voice”, a 4-episode series on violence against women in politics. The special highlights interviews with the former president of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff, the jurist and professor at PUC-SP, Silvia Pimentel, co-author of the 1988 Carta das Mulheres, and the former president of the General Assembly and former minister of Foreign Affairs, and Defense of Ecuador, María Fernanda Espinosa.

In the first episode, journalists Mayra Lopes and Ana Paula Loureiro interview the jurist Silvia Pimentel. With a long career in women rights, gender equality e feminist agendas in Brazil and at the United Nations, the PUC-SP professor assessed the political scenario in Brazil and recalled when she herself was physically attacked, in 1982, when she ran for federal deputy.
