When answering questions from journalists about the bad feeling between Lula and Ciro Gomes, Lupi was emphatic in saying that Ciro fully supports the party's decision and will support Lula in the second round of elections against Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

“Bolsonaro represents backwardness, an aspiring dictator, a man of false Christian faith. We do not admit any PDT supporters in support of Bolsonaro”, emphasized the president of the PDT, Carlos Lupi.
“Ciro will not travel, he will stay in Brazil and support Lula”, he informed. “What is in view are two different projects: on one side a Democrat, on the other an aspiring dictator.”
Regarding Ciro Gomes' resentment against the wave for useful votes, propagated by the PT before the first round on October 2, Lupi said that “hurt only comes from those who do not have the capacity to love”.

“We already had a June festival priest in this election. The political process, in the heat of emotion, can go downhill. I lived this with Brizola and Lula in 1989. Covid-19 deaths will be remembered
The president of the PDT emphasized that the party, together with Lula's PT, will remember the deaths of hundreds of Brazilians during the pandemic due to the absence of the State and lack of action by the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

“I lost friends to Covid-19. We have to remember this every day, because this suffering cannot go unpunished”, said Lupi.
