It was the first time the prince appeared since the death of Queen Elizabeth II, on Thursday (9). The prince abandoned the monarchy in 2020.

“Grandma, although this final farewell brings great sadness, I am eternally grateful for all of our first encounters, from my earliest childhood memories, to our first meeting as Commander-in-Chief, to the first moment I met my beloved wife and when he hugged his great-grandchildren”, he added.

“I cherish these moments shared with you and the many other special moments in between. We already miss him so much, not just for us, but for the whole world”, added the prince, who has lived with his wife Meghan Markle in California since 2020.
