Want to read more in 2023? Bookstagrammers recommend books and give tips for creating a reading habit

How many books did you read last year? If your list was small or didn't even exist, three bookstagrammers will help you change that scenario. On Instagram profiles, young women share readings to encourage the habit among their followers. The request of Curto News, they recommend books for those looking to read more this year, in addition to telling you which reads are most anticipated for 2023.

What tips do you give to people who want to create a reading habit this year?

Beatriz Marques, from @letteraturas: “I think, first of all, it’s just getting started and not thinking that it’s going to be easy at first. The secret is to try to read a little every day, 10/20 minutes, until reading becomes part of your routine, your daily life. I like to think about why it's important for me to carve out a little time every day to read. This helps me not to let go of the habit.”

Marilene Bispo, from @leiturasdamarilene: “The first steps to creating a reading habit is to read a book in a genre you love. Let's assume that the person watches a lot of romance films. She can find a book based on what she likes and always follows along.”

Timna Cerqueira, from @leitura.motivada: "Constancy. The habit of reading is built with a lot of constancy and effort. Trying to fit reading into your daily routine is very important, trying to establish a rhythm and stick to it. This is the main tip for anyone who wants to build a reading habit.”

What books do you recommend for those who are starting to create the habit?

Beatriz Marques, from @letteraturas: “It’s cool to start with short stories. There are many national ones, which have just a few pages and you can read without stress: Axiom, Parallel Reality, Evidence of a Betrayal. Books by Taylor Jenkins Reid and Emily Henry are also a good place to start.”
