“When you put something called a spending cap, all that happens is you take money away from health, you take money away from education, technology, culture, in other words, you try to dismantle everything that is part of the social world and you don’t touches a penny of the financial system. You don't touch a penny of that interest that the banker has to receive. Ah, but if I say that, the stock market will fall, the dollar will rise… Patience! The dollar doesn’t rise and the stock market doesn’t fall because of serious people, but because of speculators.”
According to the president-elect, it is necessary to have an inflation target, but also a growth target. “We have to have some commitment to generating income, to increasing the minimum wage above inflation. I want to prove that it is possible to end hunger again and create jobs.”
Worst country
Lula said he will assume the Presidency in January with Brazil in a worse situation than when he began his first term as president, in 2003. “We are going to find the country worse off and with something more serious, the attempt to discredit its institutions.”
