The match started like every São Paulo fan dreamed of. With great intensity, coach Rogério Ceni's team didn't let Atlético-GO breathe in the first minutes and maintained a very strong pace until they opened the scoring. The team played the ball well, at speed and with the players moving without stopping. Nestor appeared in the area in every play and Luciano made the first fight as soon as Atlético-GO's ball came out.

After four minutes, São Paulo immediately recovered the ball in the attacking field. After a cross, the Goiás defense cleared it badly, Luciano grabbed the rebound and shot hard at the goal. Renan managed to save the ball, but on the rebound Patrick appeared alone and scored into an empty goal.

The goal made Morumbi explode. Pushed by the fans, São Paulo continued to crush Atlético-GO, which was unable to leave its defense field. At 11, Luciano had the surplus at the edge of the area, dominated and shot hard with the left, but Renan palmed it away.

With Pablo Maia replacing the injured Gabriel, after 20 minutes, São Paulo finally slowed down a little and Atlético-GO was able to breathe a little. But even so, with quick touches and a lot of speed on the sides of the field, Ceni's team continued to create good chances and suffered from a lack of aim – there were at least five wasted opportunities, most of them by the Argentine Calleri.

Supported by the fans, São Paulo returned for the second half, putting a lot of pressure on the opponent. The team came in very dangerous five times in ten minutes. When anxiety was starting to take over Morumbi, once again Patrick decided. In the 17th minute, Alisson received the ball on the right and crossed into the area – the number 3 got ahead of full-back Dudu and scored the goal, guaranteeing the score that took the decision to penalties.

São Paulo still had some chances to score the third, but were unable to avoid penalties. During the kicks, Luciano stopped goalkeeper Renan, but Baralhas and Léo Pereira lost to Atlético-GO. Reinaldo, Calleri, Igor Vinícius and Galoppo They got it right and put São Paulo in the final of the Copa Sudamericana, where the team will fight for its second title.
