Don't go to São Sebastião on the weekend

This is the clear message from the authorities for São Paulo residents who intend to go to the beach next weekend. The state government's concern now is the possible movement of tourists to the affected areas.

There is a lack of total infrastructure in the municipality, as well as supplies and the roads are still being monitored, several of which still have barriers.

The advice is that people do not travel to these places, as the greater presence of people could overwhelm hospital care, road traffic and the water and food supply in the region.

The Military Police also warn that the area needs to be clear to ensure the arrival of help and rescue.

Highways

In relation to roads, the Rio-Santos Highway has 14 closure points, with falling trees or barriers. “The climb up the mountain can be done via the Anchieta-Imigrantes System, Rodovia dos Tamoios or Rodovia Oswaldo Cruz, depending on the point on Rio-Santos (SP-055) where the driver is and the destination”, says the bulletin. The Oswaldo Cruz Highway (SP-125) has two closure points due to falling barriers.

Mogi-Bertioga (SP-098) remains completely closed due to the rupture of a pipe at km 82, in Biritiba Mirim. According to the government, the emergency works began on Tuesday (21), with an investment of R$9,4 million. Traffic must be released within two months and the work must be completed within 6 months. The work involves the reconstruction of the retaining wall, in addition to creating a new gallery.
