Latest from Ukraine: country is the target of Russian attacks in several cities

Several cities in Ukraine were hit by Russian missiles this Thursday morning (29), the country's Air Force reported. After a series of military setbacks and territorial losses over the past half-year, Moscow has stepped up an air campaign with drones and missiles to attack Ukraine's energy infrastructure - a concern heading into the winter months. In the capital Kiev, around 40% of the population is without power.

The explosions in Kiev left at least three injured, according to the mayor. Fragments from downed missiles hit two houses in the east of the capital.

Em Lviv, west of the country, the explosions left 90% of the city without electricity. The region's governor stated that air defense had been activated and asked residents to remain in shelters. The explosions also hit Kharkiv, the second largest city in Ukraine.

Ukraine's anti-aircraft defense managed to shoot down 54 of the 69 Russian missiles launched this Thursday, said the commander of the Armed Forces, Valery Zaluzhny. Earlier, the Ukrainian presidency reported that the country was attacked by more than 120 Russian missiles.

In turn, the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, participated this Thursday in a ceremony to present warships, including a submarine capable of carrying nuclear missiles. He promethy produce more armaments and praised the capabilities of his fleet.
