According to the mayor of Kiev, one person died and two were injured this Thursday morning in the Golosiivsky neighborhood, in the south of the capital, as part of these attacks.

In turn, the city's military administration stated that the death was caused by falling fragments of a downed missile.

Following the attack and as a “precautionary measure”, “emergency” power cuts were carried out in the capital, its region and in the regions of Odessa (south) and Dnipropetrovsk (central-east), private electricity operator DTEK said.

With the cuts, the objective is to “avoid significant damage to electrical infrastructure if enemy missiles reach their target,” the group said on Telegram.

Since October, Russia has launched several airstrikes against Ukraine, mainly targeting energy infrastructure. These bombings damaged the Ukrainian electrical system and forced Kiev to strengthen its air defense systems with the support of its Western allies.

Thursday's attack came after several Western countries, including Germany and the United States, promehad to supply heavy tanks to Ukraine.
