Mangueira will have carnival in the metaverse; understand

After taking the first samba school to the metaverse, the Upland platform announced that it will bring the preparations for the Mangueira parade for the 2023 carnival, and important excerpts from the presentation directly from the virtual world. NFT items and vote counting will also be highlighted. Mangueira will be the last group to parade on February 19th, the first day of presentations by the Special Group.

In an interview with Newsverso, Ney Neto, general director of Upland in Latin America, gave details of what carnival will be like within the metaverse:

Upland is a metaverse that aims to integrate several virtual worlds within the platform's open map that simulates the real physical world. Being able to integrate competitions and cartographic terrain, events can be hosted within the blockchain-based platform. Therefore, after the partnership established with Hose last year, Upland intends to bring clippings from the Rio school parade into the space.

Moacyr Barreto, vice-president of Estação Primeira de Mangueira, says he is excited about the initiative. “Mangueira is a 95-year-old lady who goes to great lengths to be a pioneer. The partnership with the companies Upland and Flex Interativa allows us to offer an unprecedented experience for our audience, breaking the boundaries of the court, the sambadrome, experiencing intensely everything the school is doing. The world can now be on our side, following the activities and helping to generate resources for our institute’s socio-educational projects”, he says.

The immersive experience will feature musical attractions and experiences from the samba school court. According to Ney Neto, general director of Upland in Latin America, “it is the first time that the user will have the option of entering Upland, wearing the costume and falling onto the Mangueira court”.

Mangueira was the first samba school to launch a web3.0 initiative

The immersion will take place as follows, the Brazilian map of Upland will be fully decorated with the carnival theme. The world's buildings will be decorated with ornaments that reflect the celebration. Furthermore, the player will be able to go to the Estação Primeira de Mangueira court and enter the environment.

In addition to rehearsals, the best moments of the parade and shows will also take place inside. NFT collections and costumes can also be purchased by uplanders. The action can be seen for free within the platform, and will be available to watch throughout the month of February. The initiative aims to draw the attention of a wider audience to the metaverse.

To Newsverso, Neto said that at this moment only the Mangueira court will be checked there, but that there is an intention to bring more schools into the metaverse.

“Mangueira is our big test, and then there is this conversation with the group there. Who knows, maybe next year we’ll be able to reach all the schools in Upland,” she says.

Details about the immersive virtual reality platform that will be used for the experience were not given, but, according to Upland, users will be able to access the environment using a PC, smartphone and headsets.
