Despite criticism, Burger King adheres to the metaverse

Since last Monday (5), fast food lovers can enjoy a new shopping experience at Burger King. The food giant's metaverse store is on the Steam platform, and was named BKverso. The experience is based on placing an order through the virtual environment and receiving it at home.

Based on the publicity campaign that ran during the week, Burger King invites consumers to reflect on the behavior of people in the metaverse. This happens because the company publicly says that it entered the metaverse because of the hype, and not necessarily because it believes in the new moment of the web. The campaign provokes: “Is it more practical than delivery?”, “Does it have more flavor than the store?”, “More fun than the store?”.

O Burger King believes that the metaverse is incapable of replacing physical experience. Therefore, unlike most other companies, it views entry into the virtual environment with skepticism. But, even disbelieving this, he engages the campaign.

In the BKverso environment it is possible to check out the products, order for delivery and even try a Pixel Whooper.
