Biden and Xi Jinping promemust avoid conflicts

The presidents of the United States, Joe Biden, and China, Xi Jinping, defended this Monday (14) in Bali a policy to prevent the rivalry from turning into a conflict. After years of tension between the two countries, the heads of state greeted each other smiling.

The event took place during a meeting on the island of Indonesia, host of the G20 meeting starting on Tuesday. Meetings of leaders of major world powers must be marked by tensions associated with the war in Ukraine

“We have to find the right path for relations,” said Xi Jinping. According to him, the world is at a “crossroads” and his desire is for China and the United States to “properly manage” the situation. 

Biden followed the same line as the Chinese leader, if withprometending to “keep lines of communication open” and “manage differences to prevent competition from turning into conflict”.

Despite the messages of conciliation, they contrast with the current situation of the two countries. In recent years, there have been several conflicts between them: trade war, origin of the covid pandemic, human rights in China, the status of Taiwan.
