Latest from Ukraine: Russian attack on school south of Kiev leaves four dead and several injured

Four people died and several were injured in a Russian drone attack that hit a high school in the Kiev region this Wednesday (22), according to Ukrainian authorities. An ambulance driver called to the scene of the attack was among those killed, the Ukrainian prosecutor general's office said.

The attack hit a school in Rzhyshchiv, which is 80 kilometers south of Kiev, according to emergency services, which published photographs of the damaged buildings.

The attack “partially destroyed” two high school student residences and a building with classrooms, according to the ministry.

It also caused a fire in an area of ​​300 square meters in the educational center, which was controlled a few hours later.

The Ukrainian Air Force stated that the attack was carried out with 21 Iranian-made drones, which took off from the Russian region of Bryansk, of which 16 were intercepted by Kiev's defense batteries.

Russia also accuses Ukraine of drone attack

Also this Wednesday (22), the Russian Navy announced that it prevented a drone attack against the port of Sevastopol, on the Crimean peninsula, annexed by Moscow.

“The Black Sea Fleet prevented a drone attack against Sevastopol,” declared the Moscow-appointed governor of the city, Mikhaiil Razvojayev. “Three devices were destroyed,” he added.

Razvojayev said the operation did not cause any casualties or damage to ships, but that the explosions broke some windows in nearby buildings.
