Latest from Ukraine: bombings hit several regions of the country and leave people dead

A wave of bombings hit Ukraine this Saturday (31), including the country's capital, Kiev, where at least one person died and several were injured — local authorities reported. AFP journalists heard at least 11 explosions in Kiev in the early afternoon. Authorities released images of one of the bombings, which destroyed a hotel in the city center.

“According to initial information, one person died in the Solomiansky neighborhood. Several people were injured,” said the mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, on Telegram. Shortly before, he had announced that “explosions were heard in Kiev”, warning the population: “stay safe!” According to the mayor, seven people were injured and one of them is in “extremely serious condition”.

Ukrainian authorities also reported destruction and fires in Mykolaiv, in the south, and in Khmelnytsky, in the west.

After suffering several military setbacks on the ground, the Russia Since October, it has chosen to bomb Ukrainian infrastructure, leaving millions of people without electricity in the middle of winter.
