Ukraine says Russian attack damaged nuclear plant sensors

Operator of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant in Ukraine says new Russian attacks have damaged radiation sensors. The UN had already warned of the risks of conflict in the region.

A new Russian bombing attack on the Ukrainian nuclear power plant in Zaporizhzhia, this Thursday (11), damaged “several radiation sensors”, according to the Energoatom agency, the Ukrainian operator of Ukrainian nuclear power plants. The information is from Agence France Press (AFP).

According to initial information, the attack occurred near one of the plant's six reactors, under Russian control since March. There is still no information about possible radioactive leaks.

UN alert

The UN agency responsible for monitoring nuclear energy (IAEA) this week called for an immediate ceasefire in the region of the Zaporizhzhia plant, in southern Ukraine.(CNN)*
