During the research, participants were subjected to a series of tasks, in which their performance was compared with and without assistance from the ChatGPT. The results were evaluated by a system that took into account the opinion of experts, ensuring that the quality of the work was notpromehad.

The study also investigated the long-term effects of using ChatGPT and found that as participants became more familiar with the system, their productivity continued to increase.

To test this progression, researchers challenged workers to complete as many tasks as possible within a fixed time frame, creating a competition called “horse races.”

With ChatGPT there is more efficiency

In addition to increased efficiency, participants reported that the ChatGPT significantly reduced the time spent on activities such as idea generation and writing. The tool also proved useful during the final editing process, simplifying the production of high-quality results.

Another important finding of the study was that the ChatGPT had a positive impact on participants’ writing skills. Even those with less writing proficiency demonstrated considerable improvement, while already skilled writers made accelerated progress.

This is not MIT's first research involving AI and productivity. In May, we reported here on Newsverse a joint research carried out by experts from MIT and Stanford that found that the Generative artificial intelligence can reduce the time employees spend on tasks by up to 14%.
