Benzema is voted best player of the season in Europe

One of the favorites for the Ballon d'Or, which will be awarded on October 17th, French striker Karim Benzema, from Real Madrid, was elected this Thursday (25th) the best player of the season in Europe. He received the award for the first time in his career.

Going through a great phase, Benzema was instrumental in Real Madrid's European Champions League title: top scorer in the competition, scoring 15 goals.

“This year was the best of my career on a personal level, but when I enter the field I think about the collective and I knew that the collective would bring me here”, said the striker upon receiving the award.

In addition to Benzema, Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, his Real Madrid teammate, and Macherster City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne were competing for the award.
